Clarissa Jiaying Luk

Clarissa Jiaying Luk is an emerging artist, currently living and working in Redfern, NSW. Trained in traditional methods of Chinese calligraphy and brush ink painting (known as “sumi-e”) since a young age, Clarissa continues to work primarily in ink with a minimalist and abstract style. Clarissa’s artworks characteristically present as calligraphic line or contour drawings, though she also experiments with geometric patterns and abstract forms. Clarissa embraces and invites collectors to embrace Chinese culture through her work to tackle the ongoing racism and increasingly anti-Chinese sentiment in Australia and Western countries, promoting positive engagement in commonalities, such as the shared language of art.
