Kristi Pupo
Kristi Pupo is a Sydney-based artist exploring the interconnectedness of people, places, and objects through ceramics, performance, and installation. Her work draws on both Eastern and Western ideologies—especially animism and evolution—to examine the human experience and the spiritual forces within it.
Living in Indonesia for five years, Pupo immersed herself in Taoist practices, deepening her understanding of mysticism in daily life. This experience shaped her unique approach, viewing the artist as a shaman or ‘wounded healer.’ Her practice emphasises transformation through ritual and self-reflection, using anthropomorphism to challenge perceptions and create a shared, sacred space between artist and viewer.
