Laura Micallef
"Having grown up in the Blue Mountains, Australia, Laura’s artistic practice no doubtably was influenced by the unspoiled natural landscapes that neighboured the small towns.
Her artistic journey began early in childhood, and as the years unfolded, her approach and artistic journey have naturally evolved. During her school years, her art was a means of deep self-expression, helping her process some difficult personal experiences. Now, her art has evolved into more of a meditative practice, an experience she describes as, tapping into a transcendental-like state of mind.
Laura draws inspiration from the delicate interplay of subtle hues and the effortless harmony of colours that dwell in untouched landscapes. She has been greatly inspired by artists such as David Hockney, Heather Day, Mosta Manaz, Matt McCormick, George Lloyd and Ksenia Dermenzhi, to name a few.
Over the years, she has explored a wide array of creative mediums, including watercolours, oil paints, oil pastels, ceramics, plaster sculptures, and her most recent undertaking in the domain of collage. Beyond her visual artistic pursuits, she enjoys writing and has most recently ventured into the realm of dramatic arts."
