Electric Pin Ups & Acid Soda!

Born in France in 1976, LIPSTIK (Julien Sorribas) has been a highly active and prolific graphic artist and illustrator since 1999 in Europe North America and Australia. Now based in Redfern, he’s involved in Sydney’s underground art scene for the last 7 years.

Fascinated by late 70’s Erotica, SCI-FI, visionary architecture and junk food packaging, he creates super-sexy, flashy timeless mutant Pin Ups such as Amazon warriors from a pre-apocalyptic retro-futuristic world. Women bodies merges with urban infrastructure elements or technical graphic symbols from packaging turned into metaphysical abstractions.

Neon signs, Disco, Roller Derby & Humanoid creatures…

With a Punk as well as a Pop art approach and a unique aesthetic and universe originated from his street graffiti, skateboard culture background, the artist combines realistic photomontage with vector graphics. The clean outlines and the skin rendering fineness of Art Nouveau female models blend with the electric colours and dynamic of the 80’s airbrush painting.

LIPSTIK has participated in Montreal’s Erotic Festival for 8 consecutive years. He was also selected twice as a winner of the Erotic Signature international contest and traveling U.S. exhibition Art Undressed which opened at the World Erotic Art Museum in Miami in 2008.
