Panchali Sheth
As a Sydney-based Indian artist practicing from my studio in Forest Lodge, my work draws
deeply from the traditions of Indian miniatures and their rich narratives. With a master’s
degree from UNSW and two recent residencies in France and New York with the School of
Visual Arts, my artistic journey has been one of exploration and evolution.
In my practice, I begin with the creation of intricate layers, slowly allowing figures to emerge
as they speak to me. This process results in a dynamic interplay between abstraction and
clarity, as I choose to leave certain elements untouched while abstracting others. My work
seeks to create a sense of history and continuity, often weaving metaphors from Indian
mythology into the visual tapestry. Through this approach, I aim to connect past and present,
offering viewers a glimpse into a world where stories and symbols transcend time.
