Peter Fenwick

Peter Fenwick’s take on Immediate Intimate is inspired by the modern metamorphosis of the classic Australian club, the changing face of its patronage and its ceremonial rituals. A cast of characters dancing to the timeless chants; ‘Come on down for a Schnitty and Chips with the grand kids, ‘Donate a few coins to the local Netball team and try your luck with a few raffle tickets…‘or sell some meth in the pokie den and do a few lines on the toilet seat.’

With a dash of surrealism, colour and stretched perspective Peter creates a story we can all relate to. A humorous yet stark observation of people in a unique habitat were patterns and archetypes repeat…Both the faces and the carpet. You’ll surely be reminded of someone you’ve met before.

With this unique mix of socially accepted (and unaccepted) practices, Peter captures the mundane madness of the local club experience.  He uses watercolour pencils to bring vibrant scenes to life and precision felt pens to carve out the many characters who call these microcosms their playground. @/fenwicked1
