Peter Hardy
Hardy’s paintings and drawings both reveal and conceal meaning. Looking outward or inward, words with outward meaning or words and symbols that are hidden or asemic, having no specific semantic content. The paintings encourage a more intuitive read, the colours, layering, shifts of light and movement co-exist with his life, zen meditation and art practice. While his paintings and drawings lead the viewer to fill in or interpret meaning, the artist’s found object assemblages offer reconciliation between time past and the consuming present. A commitment to recycling and repurposed objects.
