“Sweet Candy” by KADE
The urge to merge Graffiti and erotic art.
Rooted in the style of Subway Art, my works are derived from the concrete and steel of New York City, via Redfern.
A long time devotee to style and movement of letters, these latest works of mine find me being inspired by the female form and I have incorporated both of these into my latest body of work.
Starting with the fundamentals of graffiti - the humble tag or signature, refined into solid renderings, coupled with the contrasting imagery of the soft female form, my inspiration has reached new levels that has resulted in “Sweet Candy”.
“Neon shades” by LIPSTIK
This exhibition shows artwork mainly issued from two different series; “Erotica Geometrica” and “Erotica Urbanica” all produced during 2010-2020.
In both, women's body segments are interlaced with vivid dynamic geometric shapes and lines, urban infrastructure elements or wall textures stamped by technical graphic symbols from packaging turned into metaphysical abstractions, in an explosive fashion referring to the artist’s graffiti and skateboard culture background.
A transcription of subjective mental projections and emotions, body language, muscle memory, fragments or furtive residues of a visual perception… Like a flash, an instant vision of a precise lucid anticipated or forever gone moment. Future, past and present fuse together, fixing the movement, the senses and experiences in a static ghostly immaculate apparition.
Fear of heights, sexual vertigo, fading distorted recollection of a gorgeous women body landscape or a skatepark curve… In these “graphic equations”, every single detail and space between the elements are meticulously ”scientifically” thought, designed and weighted to perfectly balance and interact together like an obvious empiric reality, a mathematical formula, a metaphysical truth floating forever in the void of eternity.
“Creatures of the night”...
Half of the art work is presented as inverted “negative” colors contrasting with the original regular version on white background. This graphic treatment creates a more surrealistic, futuristic and dramatic “neon” effect highlighting the vibrant forms and colors emerging from the darkness, from a world where lights turn to shadows, skins to blue and cigarettes are black, as a reflection to the void, the absolute, where vices, hopes, fears, dreams and fantasies freely walk side by side in the night.
